Enumeration Area Boundaries (EA)
Enumeration Areas (EA) are the smallest geographic areas for which census data are made available by Statistics Canada. An EA is the geographic area canvassed by one census representative, the boundaries following recognizable physical features such as roads and rivers. The number of households in an EA varies from 125 in rural areas to 375 in urban areas. There are 49,361 EAs in Canada. The US equivalent is a Block Group.
